Holly Adamonis-Zuller gave a heart felt speech at the Pilgrim High Schools Benefit Soccer Game
Hello everyone, for those of you that do not know me, I am Elanna’s Stepmom, Holly. Our family wanted to share some words of gratitude and appreciation with you all. As most of us know, first and foremost being a scholar was extremely important to Elanna. She was an honor student and a mock trial participant. We know she loved to play soccer, she also began to fall in love with lacrosse as well. She was so passionate about them both. She loved the competitive side of the sport, and the challenge it gave her, but most of all, the family she created from it. To our family she was the greatest sister and ideal daughter any mother and father could ask for. No matter what your relationship was with Elanna in one way or another, it was special… That was Elanna.
It was so hard to find the appropriate words to express how grateful we are for all the love and support we have been receiving. Today is one month since Elanna has passed. I still can’t believe it. There has not been one day that we have not received a meal waiting for us at our door, beautiful cards, emails, gifts, donations, and most of all your love. We want you all to know from the bottom of our hearts how much we appreciate all of this. We would not be as strong as we have been without it. We really want to thank the soccer teams, all their families, the entire student faculty, the students, our families and friends, Rigatonis for donating the food for the luncheon as well as pizza, sausage, peppers and meatballs tonight, Elmwood sports for donating T-Shirts, Briana Florio for taking the time to Design those great shirts, the Football Team for all their help tonight, the booster club for donations towards the food, New England Revolution for tickets and sports items, my job Rhode Island Novelty for the beautiful gifts and their constant concern for the well being of my family, the commitment and loving support from the Warwick Pal, there are so many people that have helped in every ways weather we just did not want to go unrecognized.
Also to Elanna’s besties…….you have proved to us through your affection and support our relationship that we had in the past as well as now will never go away, it will only get stronger, and that’s a pinkie promise!
Elanna wrote me many letters throughout her life; she had a true sense of expressing herself. She also loved to quote different things: Just recently Elanna wrote me in one of her letters which I would love to share a part of it with you “For love inspires learning naturally; The mind assents to what the heart reveres. And so it was through love you made me, me. By slowly stepping back to set me free. Love the most thankful stepdaughter ever! My dream came true when you stepped into my life!” The truth is my life became a dream when I met her, and now it’s my job to let that dream continue as best as I can. Michael and I will continue doing our best to make Isabella & Jacob happy, just as we did for Elanna. There are no words to share with you how much we miss her. But with all your help and strength we will continue to get through each day.
And of course Elanna was such an optimistic person so one of her last tweets we found was “Life is just a journey so drop your worries.” She always knew how to end something in a blissful way. So I will leave you all with that. But once again: We thank you all for sharing your support and coming out here tonight!
